What
is a secure network? |
. |
| |
A secure network ensures the confidentiality and
wellbeing of your data and network resources. When authorized users are
provided access to your data and unauthorized users are denied access to
your data, the data and you network are considered secure. |

Primary
concerns for network security |
Keeping intruders or hackers from accessing your network and your data from
outside. |
Having internal users only access the data they are
allowed to access. |
Allowing preferred customers or vendors limited network
access to you local information from the outside. |

Are
you secure? |
. |
| |
The most cost effective way of achieving a secure
network is to have all of the required operating system and application
security patches and updates properly installed. Unfortunately this is an
ongoing and sometimes daily process. A complete list of Microsoft’s HotFixes
are available at

| Questions
you must ask yourself? |
. |
| |
Is your
firewall configured properly? |
| |
Is it being
monitored for security breaches? |
| |
Has the
firewall been updated with the most recent Security Signatures? |
| |
Have the network passwords changed since that last employee got fired? |
| |
Do we have any internal protection? |
. |
Isn’t
having a firewall enough protection? |
. |
| |
A single firewall or even 2 may not be enough. Cracking
firewalls are what hackers do! Finding ways through or around firewalls and
accessing or stealing your customer lists and other confidential information
is thrilling and profitable for them. A firewall is an absolute necessity on
today’s networks, however it is not enough protection by itself. |
